Moving OnSome may not have heard the news but on March 1st I and some 2400 others were informed that short of finding another job within the company, our services would no longer be needed come the end of March. Events like this have become something of a biannual event at the company for the past three or more years. Till now each time it happened I’d be one of the growing few to get a call from management saying we were “safe” this round. The habit had become to wait about an hour then start calling or IM’ing friends I’ve worked with through the years to see if any of them had been hit in the “Resource Action” as it’s called.

It doesn’t happen often. When it does I find myself asking questions that usually start with a single ‘Why?’ that quickly turns into a virtual flash flood of them and today it happened. I rushed from my office exactly when my part of the client coverage schedule ended to the train station just in time to watch it pull away.
