Some may not have heard the news but on March 1st I and some 2400 others were informed that short of finding another job within the company, our services would no longer be needed come the end of March. Events like this have become something of a biannual event at the company for the past three or more years. Till now each time it happened I’d be one of the growing few to get a call from management saying we were “safe” this round. The habit had become to wait about an hour then start calling or IM’ing friends I’ve worked with through the years to see if any of them had been hit in the “Resource Action” as it’s called.

I’ll get right to the answer. It’s watching someone else pass away. Slowly. Painfully.
My Mother in Law is lying in a hospital bed and things will never get better. I’ve finally come to terms with that — I think. Ok, no I haven’t. I have, since this all started again two months ago, determined that this sucks. It sucks hard.

It doesn’t happen often. When it does I find myself asking questions that usually start with a single ‘Why?’ that quickly turns into a virtual flash flood of them and today it happened. I rushed from my office exactly when my part of the client coverage schedule ended to the train station just in time to watch it pull away.
I love debates. I just worry when things aren’t reviewed. Today I got yet another chain letter regarding H.R. 1388. The subject and title was “WAKE UP AMERICA!!!”
Wake Up America? Yes, please do and quickly!!
H.R. 1388 was passed behind our backs? What? By the way the bill is also entitled “The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, an Act to reauthorize and reform the national service laws.”
