I was looking through my site’s set of stats. Truthfully, I’ve never been one to stress or obsess with how many or how few visits this blog gets. Originally, the whole thing was restricted to those who registered and I only let family and close friends do that. It was my way of keeping everyone up to date with what ever was happening with me. In other words is was a place to share what my kids were doing and the latest pictures of them. Then some friends asked why didn’t I just use FaceBook so I did and the blog collected cyberdust. Then stuff happened to me or I saw something in the real world or online that I wanted to say something about and I thought why not put it on that space GoDaddy was auto-renewing as a favor to me every year. Then my good friend Tee Morris practically dragged me kicking and screaming to Twitter. And then I found neat plug-ins that could tie it all together if I were so inclined. Then a Twitter friend, Odin1eye, who I’ve come to trust and admire talked about the increase of visits his little corner was getting and I went looking for another plug-in for that and here we are. I can see how many visits the place of mine gets.
It’s right there on my Dashboard whenever I happen to stop by myself to create a new post from a PC (not often. Go ahead and check for yourself), whenever a new comment is waiting my approval (that happens even less) or when I check for updates to WordPress or one of the plug-ins installed. But I was looking at the stats and say it tracked what searches led people here. Nearly all of them had to do with the game Word with Friends which speaks more to the popularity of the game than my blog but that’s cool anyway. What caught my attention where some really odd ones.
Ever the helpful person I’ve decided that since these individuals came here looking for answers I should at least try to help. Then I realized most blogs at one time or another have done a “list post” or ten. For some really cool and creative list styles you should check out Freefringes. Erica’s got a great style, nothing seems off limits and you’ll like end up there for over an hour so plan ahead. Here though, at Orion’s Universe, lists is a post type oddly missing. So I figured this would be a great time to fill that void while lending a search hand to those in need.
Enough chitchat. Here are some of the odder searches that bought people here and my answers. They are arranged by frequency and with the exception of #10 (no peeking) occured less than four times. Lastly, these are my answers provided freely without claim for accuracy. Use at your own risk:
1. Why do privileged white kids turn out to be killers
Wow!! I’m frightened this made my site. I mean, I’ve never heard of this being the case so I’m not sure but if I were to take a stab at this I’d say because they’re rebelling? Or perhaps they just want to know if prison life is as harsh as they’ve seen while watching MSNBC on weekends. It’s pretty much all they show.
2. States where it isn’t too hot or too cold
I’d go with California. Another twitter friend agrees and said Coastal Southern CA. Try around Coronado/San Diego. She’s traveled to some pretty amazing places so I can trust her on this one.
3. Not as simple as black or white
That’s not really a question so my guess is this person was seeking a like minded opinion. Well look no further, Mystery Searcher. I firmly believe that true of most things. Long ago I was introduced to a great song “Shades of Grey” by the group Live on the matter that rings true to this day. It’s a good song. Too bad the group broke up.
4. What are the lessons to be learned from Orion
I could go on and on here so I’ll limit my response to some of my best work to date. I’ve potty trained all my kids. Me. Alone. By myself. Ask my wife. She’ll be quick to confirm this. Two girls, one boy and contrary to everything I’ve been told my son was the easiest of the three hands down. I shudder at the thought of what life would have been like changing a child’s diaper well beyond that of a 2 year old. Other things you can learn from me would be to never ever move from one state to another for a girl unless there’s a ring involved. While dating multiple people refrain from referring to them as “contestant number”. Oh, and should mom asks yet again when will you make her a grandmother don’t go the wise ass route with something along the lines of, “who knows? Maybe you already are?”
5. Why isn’t Orion allowed in word with friends
Hello!!?!? It’s a proper noun! I mean, come on, really?
6. Where can we find Orion in universe
Maryland, USA
Earth, Sol System
Or if you prefer Star Trek Coordinates: Sector 0,0,1
I must say that’s a fine choice. It’s on my Wish List. That’s the SubAqua Venom from their Reserved Collection. Here are the details
