Thomas tweeted this yesterday and I thought to give the quiz a try.  Now I’m not one to normally take quizzes but this one had a Star Trek theme and if you know me then you’re not at all surprised I jump right in.

Now not being upset by the results doesn’t mean I’m without concern (more on this after the quiz results)

Your results:
You are Will Riker

So here are my concerns.  Does this mean that even though I’ve clearly demonstrated the ability to play a bigger role and have my own command I’ll continue to pass on such opportunities?  Riker claimed he stayed as “Number One” aboard the Enterprise because he was most effective there and could learn a lot from his Captain.  Let’s face it, Counselor Deanna Troi was a major factor in his decision. I actually did exactly this over a decade ago.  Passed up a promotion offer that could have put me in line for bigger and better things in my career (yeah a girl was a major factor).  I’ve spent the years since recovering only to now get laid off effective 03/31/2010.

The quiz was fun to take but now it’s made me a bit more reflective than anticipated.   The poor career choice were years ago.  I’m not likely to pull a “Riker” again.

Oh, if you’re interested (I know you are) here’s how Thomas did on the same quiz.  I’d be a bit more worried had it been me.  LOL

How about you?  Ever pull a “Riker” in your past?  Would you in the future?
